Susan Douglas Rubes (Katherine Roberts Lang Grant Holden, Meta Bauer’s step-daughter through reporter Joe Roberts, her dead by car crash caused an uproar among fans) was the only actress to play Kathy Roberts, according to Soap Central from radio only, December 27, 1950 to June 27, 1952; radio & television, June 30, 1952 to June 29, 1956; television only, July 2, 1956 to March 31, 1958. She went on to a long career across many mediums, and passed away Jan. 23, 2013 in Toronto, Canada. Nicole Forester (Cassie Layne Winslow #2) was interviewed in the December 17, 2012 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth. After she left the soap, she moved to Michigan to start a family. After focusing on that for awhile she started getting jobs in various Midwest shoots, including the Tom Cruise movie Jack Reacher, the Kelsey Grammer drama Boss, and new film The Yank.
Ricky Paull Goldin (Gus Aitoro) has announced a new show he’s starting on HGTV called Spontaneous Construction. It’s going to start with back to back episodes on February 15, 2013 at 9 pm ET.
The October 22, 2012 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth featured the 2004 Carrie Caruthers House of Mirrors scene complete with a behind the scenes photo. Robert Newman (Josh Lewis) says “We didn’t have a dry rehearsal on the set….Nine a.m. was really the first time we started working in it. You can’t see the camera person and the camera in any of the mirrors, so you’ve got to shoot at a very specific angle.” The report goes on “While the soap normally shot with three cameras to get all the angles needed, the mirrors limited them to one camera and countless takes. The end result was an exhausting shoot with the actors working until 2:30 a.m. the next morning!” Newman also appeared at the Veterans Day Service Event to Feed L.A.
