The January 30, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest published the Manny photo from Instagram.

Check out “The Guiding Light” pp 42-44 in Daytime TV Yearbook, no. 5 1974. It includes the cast at the time with individual photos and bios.

The November 4, 1986 issue of Soap Opera Digest featured an article on the effect of chaos and switching TPTB behind the scenes. They tell about what’s going on behind the scenes on Guiding Light in the mid-1980s.

I’m sure I mentioned this when this first came out, but I just came across the August 1, 2011 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth. In a feature on characters who get back together to characters after they really should know better, Manny get a page and a half and several photos.

The July 31, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest flashes back to what happened on all the soaps, including Guiding Light, in 1998. As any Manny fan knows the most important event that year was that Manny got its start. Also important was Michael Zaslow (the irreplaceable Roger Thorpe) was unceremoniously fired due to his advancing illness, Fiona Hutchinson (Jenna Bradshaw Cooper, Vanessa’s sort of sister, Buzz’s true love), Jay Hammer (long time reporter Fletcher Reade), Lisa Brown (Nola Reardon Chamberlain, of the Quola pairing), all left.

Bethany Joy Lenz (then credited as Joie Lenz) was on the red carpet for the premiere of HBO’s Big Little Lies. See a photo in the April 27, 2017 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth.

Daniel Cosgrove (Bill Lewis #4, part of the wonderful Bizzie pairing) talks about being an introvert in the July 25, 2016 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth.

Find a photo of Jordi Vilasuso (Tony Santos #1 of Marony fame) is given a full page photo with a discussion of his diet in the July 25, 2016 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth. His character’s departure from Days of Our Lives means that there is a feature interview with Vilasuso in the August 7, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest. Since then has done two movies. Vilasuso did a quick short spot talking about what he has learned watching Justin Deas (Buzz Cooper) and A. Martinez on Days. It’s a nice little shot of how Deas worked. Find it in the March 21, 2016 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Laura Bell Bundy (Marah Lewis #5, the one who started Marony) married TBS excecutive Thom Hinkle in Arcadia, CA at the Santa Anita Park racetrack on June 3, 2017. Read about it in the June 26, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Sonia Satra (Lucy Cooper Spaulding, part of terrific LAM pairing, victim of Marian Crane) has a featured interview about her part as Gloria Steinem in a 10 point docuseries American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story in the August 14, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Michael Tylo (Quint McCord Chamberlain) was interviewed in the December 30, 1986 issue of Soap Opera Digest when he first came on All My Children. He talks about his time on Guiding Light and his bicoastal marriage.

Find a feature on the play Breathing Under Dirt including Michael O’Leary (Rick Bauer #5, the adult one we know and love),  Grant Aleksander (Phillip Spaulding #2, adult Phillip), Cynthia Watros (Annie Dutton #1), Tina Sloan (Lillian Raines), and Beth Chamberlain (Beth Raines Spaulding #2) is in the August 8, 2016 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth

It included is Frank Grillo (the last Hart Jessup) who now stars on Kingdom his real life wife and former Guiding Light love interest Wendy Moniz (Dinah Marler #3) played his love interest in Kingdom‘s second season. In the August 14, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest an Ask Us question explained that Moniz appeared in seasons 4 and 5 in House of Cards as Laura Moretti.

Krista Tersreau (Mindy Lewis #1) was quoted in the best quotes feature of April 15, 2013 issue of Soap Opera Digest. The quote was originally published April 10, 1984. Judi Evans (Beth Raines #1) has previously played two very distinct roles on Days of Our Lives. She had returned awhile ago to her iconic role as Adrienne Johnson, but recently they’ve brought back Bonnie Lockhart. Their runs were on separate times and when Bonnie came on their resemblance was not noticed but will play a major part in current story. Find more in the July 31, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Daniel Hall who is now Scott Granger on The Young and the Restless had several short term roles on Guiding Light including Jack/Jake/Unnamed Pickpocket. Find an interview with him where he includes his time on GL in the April 17, 2017 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth. He also discusses (and is pictured with) Saundra Santiago (Carmen Santos). They didn’t overlap on the soap, but got to know each other later.

A question in the December 30, 1986 issue of Soap Opera Digest ask if Keith Timmons on Santa Barbara‘s cat was really his actor’s Justin Deas‘s cat. It wasn’t.

In the December 30, 1986 issue of Soap Opera Digest has a great 2 page photo of Grant Aleksander (Phillip Spaulding #2, adult Phillip) with a couple of cats. It’s worth finding the issue. There’s also a photo of Kimi Packs who played Dorie who India adopted.

The quote was originally from 2002, but was quoted again in the April 15, 2013 issue of Soap Opera Digest about how nice TPTB were about letting her out of her contract.

The April 4, 1986 issue of Soap Opera Digest answers a fan question about Simon Hall (the illegitimate son of Alexandra’s first husband who was also the father of Lujack and Nick McHenry). His accent was Canada and was his actor’s (Shawn Thompson) real accent.

Danny and Food From Little Havana September 4 2001

May 23, 2017

Check out my latest episode guide post.

I know I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but this is one of my favorite Danny, non-Michelle and Robbie bits. If anyone knows Cuban food please help me out on the menu. I can pick up the arroz y pollo and the flan for dessert, but they mention at least two other dishes that not knowing Cuban food well enough I can’t quite catch.

Maria Danny Ray Tony eat Little Havana

Maria Danny Ray Tony eat Little Havana

FYI Little Havana.

Tues., Sept. 4, 2001 – At the Springfield PD: Gus tries to tell Carmen that he isn’t with the feds anymore but she tells him that she knows he is undercover. He asks her what she wants and she tells him she wants to stay out of prison. She offers him enough info on the Sandovals and Machados to put them all away but Gus tells her that he wants all three families. Carmen tells him with what she has; he will have his career made. Gus insists that he has to have at least Danny along with the others but Carmen won’t budge. She tells him that she can give him Maria, but Tony isn’t into anything and Danny is her son. She tells him that Washington won’t be happy that Gus refuses to take down the other two families just because of his vendetta against the Santos clan. Gus makes a call and acts like he is talking to Washington but in reality he called a pizza place. He ends the call and tells Carmen that Washington won’t deal without Danny as part of the package. At the Bauer House: Danny comes in with takeout of all his favorites from Little Havana. Danny is planning on a feast for one of all his Cuban foods because Meta is out, Rick is at work, and Michelle took Robbie to a “Mommy and Me” class. Rick comes in and Danny is surprised. Rick was supposed to be working a shift at Cedars, but he wasn’t up to it after Beth’s funeral so he came home early. Rick tries to sneak a taste of Danny’s meal, but Danny is protective and tells Rick he isn’t sharing. Rick leaves with a parting shot about how Danny doesn’t owe him anything he just lives in Rick’s house….rent free…..

Danny: “Great, now I HAVE to save him some.”

Danny sits down with his feast. Just as he starts Abuela comes by and asks if she can come in. Danny refuses and asks her to leave. She tells him that Michelle let her in the night before and they helped each other look for him. He won’t talk to her about it and she chastasizes him for worrying Michelle.

Danny: “Oh, NOW you’re worried about Michelle’s feelings? You should have thought about that before you tried to take that hit out on me.”

Maria (waving it away as nothing): “That order was given by Carlos.”

Danny: “Well, you went along with it.”

Maria: “I tried to rectify that mistake when I testified for you.” (Maria had helped throw her testimony to make it look like Danny was telling the truth and the state was lying even though she was testifying as part of a deal for the state.)

Maria takes a bite and Danny tells her not to eat his food. She tells him she is just picking, like they always used to. Tony arrived next and sits down at the table and he too starts picking. Danny can’t believe that they are eating his food. Danny tells them to go place their own order. Ray shows up and smells the food and Danny asks if he intends on picking as well.

Ray: “No, I’m STARVING hand me a plato.”

He gets a plate and helps himself. Maria is pleased at the impromptu family meal but Danny is irritated watching as his food disappears.

Maria: “I was wondering when was the last time we were together like this.”

Danny: “Um, let me see when you tried to kill me.”

Maria (once again waving it away as unimportant): “No, Raymond was not here that time.”

Danny isn’t physically pushing them out, but really can’t believe they are acting like everything is normal like it used to be. Ray, Tony, and Danny verbally spar and Abuela says it’s like having her three sons back. Danny sardonically points out that since they didn’t get out of the business like he’s trying to do they’re all dead. Ray tries to steer the conversation to safer territory by asking Danny about the job search. He tells them about his job at Spaulding and tells them that he is completely legit. Maria doesn’t look thrilled. Danny asks if she isn’t proud of him. Maria tells him she has always been proud of him, even when he wasn’t proud of himself. Rick comes back in and sees everyone eating. He asks Danny if he decided to share after all.

My Comments:

I know I’ve been saying this quite a bit lately, but this is one of my favorite Manny bits. I know just what Danny means sometimes to get to go to your favorite place and get all your favorites without having to share or talk with anyone is just the best. The restaurant he got take out from is called Little Havana and this isn’t the first time they’ve talked about it, but we never see it as a set. I just adore Danny’s interaction with his family here. It just is so family like. I have to say we’re know in one of all time favorite periods of Manny so I’ll keep saying how much I like stuff especially before “Mr. Big” gets here. While I enjoy the normalcy here, I also am glad Danny isn’t 100% having it. I think “Maria” threw up a line there “and that other uncle of yours.” I thought at first she said their names, but on a relisten she says something like your fathers and uncle, but I still think maybe it’s a thrown up line. It isn’t very clear and saying their names would make a lot more sense. I’m sorry that they cut off the end when Rick comes back. I don’t blame Rick for being ticked, but really Danny would have had to physically push them out. I’m sure Rick’s reaction was the tag, but I wish when he came in Danny would have gotten up and said let’s you and me go out to dinner, Ray will lock up or something like that. To show his allegiance with Rick.

Love Led Us Here by JenJ

April 18, 2017

“Love Led Us Here” – Instead of Tony pretending to be Danny, Danny leaves with Rick and he dies while Rick tries to save his life at the lighthouse. Michelle blames (and rightfully so) Tony, Ray, and Rick.

All I have for this one is these three chapters. It’s an unfinished fanfic.

Love Led Us Here Part 3 by JenJ

April 17, 2017

Republisher’s Note: This is a retelling where Danny went with Rick and Tony the night of the attack on the Bauer House and was killed.

Love Led Us Here Part 3 by JenJ

Michelle walked into the kitchen. She was exhausted. Robbie had sensed how upset she was and had kept her awake all night, although she couldn’t have slept even if she had wanted to. He’d finally fallen asleep so she’d taken advantage of that to go downstairs and see what was going on.

Rick, Tony and Ray were all sitting around the table talking quietly. Meta was fixing breakfast. They stopped talking when they saw Michelle walk in. They just sat awkwardly, not quite sure of what to say. Each of them felt responsible for what had happened and they knew that Michelle blamed them too.

“Honey, can I get you some breakfast?” Meta asked. Michelle shook her head. She wasn’t hungry, she wasn’t feeling anything except total numbness. “Are you sure? You should eat something.”

Michelle still didn’t say anything. She just sat down. The three men exchanged glances, each wanting the other to be the first to say something. Meta set plate in front of her but Michelle just pushed it away, “Michelle, you need to eat something.”

“I’m not hungry,” Michelle said dully.

“Well you’re going to eat this anyway,” Meta said firmly, “You’re not going to be any use to your son if you get sick. He needs you.”

Michelle shook her head, “He needs his father, we both do.”

“Michelle, you have to take care of yourself,” Rick said. “Danny would want that.”

“No, Danny wanted to get out of his family. He wanted a life with me and Robbie,” Michelle said, looking accusingly at Tony.

“Michelle, please I tried to warn you. I did,” Tony said.

“Well maybe if you had warned us sooner than he would have had a chance,” Michelle said.

“I never wanted this to happen,” Tony said. “You have to believe me. Danny was hard on me when I first came to town, but I never wanted him dead.”

“Then why did you leave him there to die?” She accused, looking at both Rick and Tony. “Why did you leave him there?”

“Honey, we tried to get to him but we couldn’t. We told you that last night,” Rick tried to explain.

“How hard did you try?” Michelle asked. “How hard did you try to bring him back?”

“Michelle, I swear that we tried…” Rick said.

“They did try, Michelle,” Ray broke in.

“How do you know?” She said turning on him. “You weren’t there. Besides you’re just as responsible as they are. You knew about this, but you didn’t warn Danny either.”

“Tony told me in confession. I had no choice,” Ray said.

“That’s always your excuse,” Michelle said. She stood up and said, “I’m going to check on Robbie.” Then she turned and walked out of the room.

Rick shut his eyes, “That went well.”

Ray sighed, “She’s taking this very hard.”

“What do you expect?” Meta asked, joining them at the table. “Her husband was just killed.”

“And it’s our fault,” Tony said. “I swear I thought that he was right behind me. He was my cousin, I didn’t want him to die, especially like that.”

“No one’s blaming you,” Ray said.

“Except Michelle,” Tony said, “But I think she’s blaming all of us.”

“She’s grieving for her husband,” Meta pointed out. “She needs to blame someone. All we can do right now is be there for her whether she wants us or not.”

“I’ll do anything,” Tony said. “I feel responsible enough about this as it is.”

“You’re going to have to help Michelle take care of Robbie,” Ray said. “You’re his godfather. Now that Danny’s gone you have to take care of his son.”

Tony nodded and they heard a knock at the door. Meta got up to answer it. It was Marah and Catalina.

“We heard about Danny on the news,” Catalina said. “We came to see if there was anything we could do.”

“Are you okay?” Marah asked, throwing herself into Tony’s arms.

“I’m fine,” He said, pulling away from her. “I wasn’t even hit.”

“I was so scared that you had been shot. I couldn’t bear it if anything had happened to you.’

“Well you see I’m fine,” Tony said. “What are you doing here? I told you to stay away from me.”

Marah started to protest but Catalina stopped her, “How’s Michelle?”

Rick shook his head, “She’s still in shock.”

“Can we see her?”

“Sure,” Rick nodded. “Maybe you can help her. We haven’t been able to.” Marah and Catalina went upstairs with Marah looking back at Tony, hoping that he would give her some kind of sign.

“They might be able to help her. At least she doesn’t blame them for what happened to Danny,” Tony said. “Why shouldn’t she blame us? What happened was our fault.”

“You remind me of Danny,” Ray said. “Remember last fall how depressed he got. He blamed himself for something and look what happened to him. He spent months wallowing in guilt. Don’t do the same thing. It doesn’t change what happened and it’s not going to bring Danny back.”

Tony looked at Ray and said, “You’re right about one thing. Danny’s not coming back. Nothing I do is going to change what happened last night.”

Love Led Us Here Part 2 by JenJ

March 29, 2017

Republisher’s Note: For some reason someone wrote what would have happened if things had gone worst.

Love Led Us Here Part 2 by JenJ

“Dead?” Michelle said uncomprehending, “What are you talking about?”

“Sweetie, he was shot and…”

“Yes I know he was shot but you took him to get help,” Michelle protested.

“He got hit again while we were making a run for it,” Rick said helplessly. “He never had a chance.”

“NO!” screamed Michelle, who would have collapsed if Harley hadn’t caught her. “No, he can’t be dead. Please tell me he’s not…”

“Michelle…”Tony started to say.

“Shut up!” she yelled at him. “This is your fault! If you had just warned us earlier then maybe we would have had some kind of chance!” Tony didn’t have anything to say. He knew that he was to blame.

“Rick, what happened?” Harley asked, helping Michelle to sit down.

Rick sat down, and said, “It all happened so fast. Danny had been shot but it wasn’t too bad. We decided to go to the Lighthouse so that I could take care of him. Then when we got there we saw that we weren’t alone. These other guys had gotten there first.”

“Who were they?” Frank asked.

“I don’t know. I’ve never seen them before,” Tony said.

“They just ambushed us,” Rick said. “Danny was able to run so Tony took off first to cover us, then I made a run for it with Danny following. They just started shooting at us and…”

“Did you fire back?” Frank asked.

Tony nodded, “I fired and Danny had a gun too. I heard some shots behind me so I think he got off a few shots before….”

“Before? What happened to Danny?” Michelle asked, tears streaming down her face.

“We just kept running and Michelle, I thought he was right behind me but when we got inside he wasn’t there. So we looked outside and he was laying on the ground. I tried to get to him but they were still shooting.”

“So you didn’t see him? Then how do you know for sure that he’s….?” Michelle asked, desperate for any kind of chance that Danny had made it.

“The hitmen stopped shooting and they walked over and looked at Danny. I saw them check to see if he was still alive and from what I saw they were satisfied with what they saw. Then they saw us and started shooting so we had to duck for cover and by the time that they had stopped and we were able to look they were gone and they had taken Danny’s body with them.” Rick said grimly.

That was all it took. With those words Michelle fell apart, “You left him? You left him there to die and you let them take his body away?” She accused. “How could you do that? He’d never have let that happen to either of you? Why did you let that happen to him?”

“Michelle, there was nothing that we could have done. We tried to follow them to see where they were taking him but we lost them.” Rick said. “I swear that we did try.”

“Well trying wasn’t good enough,” Michelle said tearfully. “It wasn’t good enough and now I have to tell my son that his father’s never coming back.” As if on cue the sound of Robbie’s cries could be heard through the monitor. “Excuse me,” She said, getting up and running out of the kitchen.

After Michelle had left Harley turned back to Rick and Tony, “Is there anything you’ve left out? Anything at all? We want to catch these guys.”

“No,” Rick said, tiredly. “I’ve said everything that I can think of. ”

Harley nodded, “Well we’ll leave you alone. We’ve got a car stationed out front in case anyone tries to come back.”

“They won’t,” Tony said dully. “The hit was only for Danny. Michelle and the baby aren’t in any danger. I made sure of that.”

“I bet that’s just what Michelle wants to hear right now,” Rick said. “That you made a deal that she and her son would get to live while her husband gets killed.”

“I never wanted any of this,” Tony protested. “I didn’t want Danny to die. That’s why I tried to warn him.”

“Well I think to Michelle it’s too little too late,” Rick said.

“We’ll be back tomorrow,” Frank said, turning to leave. There wasn’t anything else they could do tonight and maybe tomorrow they’d be able to find the shooters and where they had left Danny’s body.

Upstairs Michelle picked up a crying Robbie and held him, “SHHH baby, it’s okay. It’s just going to be okay.” She looked down at him and slowly ran her finger over his face, tracing his features that looked so much like Danny’s. “It’s just us now. Daddy’s gone, he’s not coming home again. You’ll never see his face or hear his voice. The only thing you’ll have is what I tell you.” after saying this Michelle lay down with Robbie in her arms and began to sob for everything she had lost.

Love Led Us Here Part 1 by JenJ

Republisher’s Note: A sadder take on the attack on the Bauer House.

Love Led Us Here Part 1 by JenJ

Michelle paced the kitchen with Robbie in her arms. He had been asleep for about an hour but she still hadn’t laid him down. She didn’t want to have him out of her arms for one second.

It had been hours since the shooting. Hours since Tony had shown up to warn them, Maria’s appeal to Danny, the shooting and then Rick and Tony helping a wounded Danny out the front door and leaving her behind. They had promised her that they would call her as soon as they were safe but so far she hadn’t heard a word from them and she was getting more and more worried. She glanced over at Frank, Harley and David. The ambulance had taken the body of one of the assassins away and most of the police were gone but those three had stayed to watch her.

“Michelle, why don’t you take the baby upstairs and lay down,” Harley suggested. “He’s asleep and I’m sure that you’re tired too.”

“No, I couldn’t sleep anyway,” Michelle said, rocking the baby.

“Well, the baby’s asleep so why don’t you go upstairs and put him down. We’ll let you know if we hear anything.”

“I’d rather keep him with me right now,” Michelle said. She didn’t want to leave Robbie alone upstairs in case an assassin came back or if Maria sent a kidnapper to take him.

“There’s no danger,” Frank assured her. “There are police surrounding the house. No one’s going to try and break in.”

Michelle hesitated, still not wanting to let her son out of her sight. Harley noticed this and said, “How about I bring his bassinet down here and he can sleep here?”

Michelle nodded, “That sounds better.”

“Michelle, can you think of any places that Danny might have gone to?” David asked. “Any safe houses, or secret places he has?”

“No,” Michelle said, shaking her head. “He doesn’t have any kind of place like that.”

“Are you sure or are you just protecting him?”

Michelle turned away from him and laid Robbie down in the bassinet that Harley had brought in. She spent a long time arranging his blankets before she turned back to David, “I’m sure,” She said coldly. “Danny doesn’t have any safe houses or secret places that he could hide and I have told you everything that I know.”

“Look, Michelle, you’re not helping anyone by lying to us. Now the best way to help us find Danny and the others is to tell us where you think they are.”

“I’ve told you,” Michelle snapped. “I don’t know where Rick and Tony took Danny. They just said to stay down and they took him out and drove away.”

David started to speak but Harley pulled him aside, “Look why don’t you go down to the station? Frank and I will keep an eye on things here.” He started to protest but Harley interrupted him, “You’re only upsetting her and you’re not going to get anything out of her.”

“I don’t think she’s telling the truth.”

“Well even if she isn’t then Frank and I are going to get more her than you are. So why don’t you just go back to the station, see if they’ve heard anything.”

“Okay,” David grudgingly agreed. “I’m going to swing by Laurel Falls though. Danny’s hidden there before. He might go back there.” Then he turned and left.

Michelle stared out the window, wondering where Rick and Tony had taken Danny. She hadn’t been able to see how badly he had been shot before they had left so she didn’t know what kind of shape he was in right now.

“Michelle?” Frank asked, “Is there anything we can do? We’re trying help. Maybe if you tell where you think they went then I could go and get them.”

Michelle shook her head, “No, I don’t know where they went. Rick just said that they were going somewhere safe and they would call me as soon as they could.”

“I know but where do you think Rick would take Danny? You said that Danny was shot, now where would Rick take Danny to hide and treat him?”

“I don’t know,” Michelle insisted. “Please, I’m telling you all that I know.”

“Okay,” Harley said. “We believe you.”

Michelle sighed with relief. She honestly didn’t know where they were and she was starting to get even more worried. She hadn’t heard anything from them yet and she knew in this wasn’t a case where no news was good news. The longer she went without hearing from Danny the more worried she was about him.

Suddenly she heard a noise coming from the driveway, “Get down,” Frank said, shutting off the lights. Michelle grabbed Robbie and ducked behind the island with Frank and Harley, who had drawn their guns. Then the door opened and two figures slowly walked through the door. It was Rick and Tony. Frank, Harley and Michelle stood up. Michelle laid the baby back in his bassinet and ran over to Rick and Tony and said, “Where’s Danny? What happened?”

Rick just looked at her. He looked pale and shaken but he didn’t say anything. Michelle turned to Tony. He was pale too and his eyes had taken on a haunted look, “Please, what happened to him? Where is he?”

“Michelle, honey, sit down,” Rick said, putting his arm around her.

“NO,” Michelle said, shaking his arm off. “I don’t want to sit down now tell me where’s my husband.”

Rick turned to Harley and said, “Take the baby upstairs.”

“No,” Michelle said. “No one’s going anywhere until I know where Danny is.”

“Michelle, he’ll be safe up there. I promise,” Frank said. He picked up Robbie and took him upstairs.

“Where’s Danny,” Michelle insisted. “What happened to him.”

“We did everything we could…” Rick started to say.

“So where is he?”

“He’s gone, honey,” Rick said gently. “We did everything we could but it wasn’t enough.”

“Gone? What are you talking about?”

“He’s dead, Michelle,” Rick said gently.

Celebration and Chair Slide Aug 21 2001

January 24, 2017

Check out my latest episode guide post.

chair-slide

Tues., Aug. 21, 2001 – At the Bauer House: Everyone is celebrating Danny’s release, drinking champagne and toasting each other.

Danny: “Well, Ross, no offense you did a great job, but I think the real hero of my trial is Michelle. So to my amazing wife if not for your incredible stubborness….and determination I wouldn’t be here right now. I love you.”

Frank tells them that they still have to protect Michelle until Carmen is caught. Claire demands the police keep eyes on Manny until Carmen is caught, but Frank says he doesn’t have the budget for it. Danny pulls Frank to the side and asks him why he is acting angry towards him. Frank is upset that he punched him and escaped. Danny tells him he had to get to Michelle and he’d only decked him to cover him with his higher ups. Frank tells him if he wants to go straight he should concentrate on “following the law, not bending it.” Frank punches Danny and Tony comes in ready to hurt him. Danny laughs and tells Tony is it alright and Frank tells him they are even. Catalina tells Tony that the system works and she hopes he sees that. (As much as I dislike Catalina – calling her Cat is cute.) Tony tells her Michelle and Blake got Danny off, not the system. Just then Gus pokes his head in to greet the family. Gus comes in and tells everyone that there are so many cops on their side, it isn’t any wonder that Danny beat the rap. Tony doesn’t take Gus’s snide comments very well.

Danny: “Tony, Tony. It’s OK EX-Agent Aitoro is just yanking your chain. He knows full well that the videotape was real that Carmen is alive. He just can’t admit that because it means he lost.”

Michelle: “I think you may have to say that a little LOUDER because I think EX-Agent Aitoro has a problem hearing.”

Danny: “Oh, he heard me. Everyone in this room knows he lost, so please, please stay. Have a little champagne. Nothing will make this celebration sweeter than having you witness our happiness. A toast to EX-Agent Gus Aitoro I’m a free man today because of your blind vengance and your total incompetence. By all means keep up the good work.”

Gus leaves and everyone claps. Manny are estastic. Outside, Gus makes a call. Meanwhile, Blake tells Ross how brilliant he was. Ross tells Blake that he has lost his edge and that he feels he is growing old. He tells Blake that she, Danny and Michelle won the case, not him. Claire congratulates Michelle and Danny but tells Michelle how nuts she was to go after Carmen. Michelle tells Claire that she wouldn’t have had to if she hadn’t helped the prosecution. Danny tells Michelle how Claire helped him locate her at the airport. Claire tells her that she had to tell him to protect her. Michelle thinks they are very alike when it comes to protecting those they love. Claire offers to go ahead and set up that meeting with him and Alan. Danny is reluctant but Michelle thinks he can do a lot of things for Spaulding. Claire goes to call Alan. Michelle tells Danny she thinks it is a good thing and may turn into something. Claire calls and asks his assistant Sally to put her through to Alan. Sally tells Claire that Alan doesn’t have her on the list of people he wants to talk to. Claire is ticked. She goes back to Danny and Michelle and tells them that everything is fine and Danny has an interview first thing in the morning. Claire walks away and calls the Spaulding head of security. Everyone has FINALLY left leaving Michelle and Danny alone. Danny takes Michelle in his arms, spooning her and nibbling on her ear, neck, and shoulder. Michelle: “It’s over and you are free and we are going to start a whole new life together!” Danny is worried about Tony and where his head is. Michelle just wants to focus on the positive and getting on with their lives.

Cue couple theme song – Michelle sits down on Danny on the chair.

Danny: “I’m so lucky to have you. You stuck by me, worked so hard and saved my neck.”

Michelle: “You did the same for me, although I do have ONE request.”

Danny: “What?””

Michelle: “I don’t ever, EVER set foot on those docks again.”

Danny: “You’re telling me. Thank God you’re OK. Thank God you’re OK.”

Michelle: “Hey! What’s going on? You’re supposed to be happy there.”

Danny: “I am. I am. I just didn’t think this day would ever come.”

Michelle: “OH I did.”

Danny: “How do you do that? You always keep the faith, all the time.”

Michelle: “It’s, uh, it’s called love.”

Danny: “Do you know how much I love you? How much I love our little boy? How just the idea of being apart from you maybe forever was…..”

Michelle: “Don’t!”

Danny: “I almost lost you.”

Michelle: “Danny…”

Danny: “I almost lost Robbie.”

Michelle: “You’re never going to lose us, not now, not ever.”

Danny: “It’s so hard to believe that. We’ve just been living like this for so long. Always waiting for us to be able to live our lives.”

Michelle: “And it’s finally happened. It HAS happened and I just want to celebrate with you, you know.”

Michelle tells Danny it’s too bad everyone else is gone so…

Michelle: “We have the whole house to ourselves, ALL afternoon. What are we going to do?”

Danny: “What if I take you upstairs and show you how much I love you?”

Michelle slides over on top of Danny up his chest and between his legs….the chair slide.

My Comments: Now I love Buzz and Frank I truly do, but honestly it gets a little ridiculous how they start taking over all the Bauer parties. Honestly I’d much rather have had Meta there and Robbie than Frank. And we have to have Greek music when a Cuban somba, an Irish jig, or a German polka would be more fitting for the family that actually lives in the house. Nice line unnaturally put there for real life, but deftly explains why neither Meta nor Robbie are at the party before anybody asks. It’s kind of nice they did include Claire. But GOOD GRIEF do we have to have Catalina contaminating every single storyline group shot? Whether it’s Santos, Bauer, Lewis, or even Cooper – BAM! – there she is. Loving Claire’s beautiful pantsuit. I realize it must be hard on Frank to be Danny’s friend – I mean honestly he is always a better friend to Danny than Danny is to him – but in this case if Danny had listened to Frank Michelle would have been dead no ifs ands or buts so take a chill pill. That said I think Danny owed Frank that punch, but he COULD have waited until after the party. I mean WHAT is it with Gus and just constantly tresspassing on the Bauers? They don’t like him and for good reason. I can get him baiting them in public and MAYBE even if he knocked first or even walked in a standing open door, but he’s always entering without the owner’s position. Claire keeps pushing Danny to set up a meeting with Alan. I know how she feels I’ve pushed someone to let me do something and then realized I couldn’t do it when they finally said OK.

I don’t understand though WHY did they push it quite this quick. They could have taken a week or so off the front burner. Why did Claire tell Danny she actually had an appointment immediately when she didn’t? She couldn’t say next week?

Pratt was a soap jumper and covers a lot of ground, but offers this answer to how she got on Guiding Light “[EP] John Whitesell hired me. I went straight to a screen test because they knew I had that body of work with General Hospital. Working with Jay Hammer [Fletcher Reade] was awesome. We had such chemistry. I recently came across a picture with Jay where he’s hugging me and I had the most genuine smile. I was just so happy. I wish they had developed our storyline further, but there was a change in producers and writers, and Claire gave birth to Michelle and gave the baby to Ed and Maureen, and the next thing I knew I was off the show. A few months later I showed up in Pine Valley.” She’s right they had killer chemistry.

Kim Zimmer (Reva Shayne Lewis) won her second Daytime Emmy as Lead Actress.”

“The actresses did not overlap on GL, where Wright played Cassie from 1997-2005 and Rylan portrayed Lizzie from 2006-2009. Their characters were not related by blood, but Lizzie did have a child, Sarah, with Cassie’s nephew, Jonathan.”

Darnell Williams(Griggs, who shot Dinah and help Harley and Cyrus captive in St. Michael’s church tower) was featured in an ask us in the July 25, 1995 issue of Soap Opera Weekly. Previously Williams had created the iconic soap role of Jesse Hubbard on All My Children…a role he would eventually return to in the waning days of the soap. However, this is a catch-up of his roles since leaving AMC up to 1995. Williams had a short run on As the World Turns as Jack Devere, and now plays Jacob Johnson on Loving. After leaving AMC in 1988, the actor appeared in the TV-movie Stompin’ at the Savoy, and was a standby in the Broadway production of Angels in America.

From the Ask Us section of the October 27, 2014 issue of Soap Opera Digest. “Q: My sister and I were reminiscing about Guiding Light (we do that a lot!) and can’t remember all of the women who Josh Lewis was married to other than Reva. I would love a list. Thanks! Carolyn D. Buffalo, NY. — A: Josh’s first marriage, in 1987, was to the psychologically troubled Sonni Carrera. They split and he wed Reva in 1989. After her presumed death in 1990, Josh got engaged to Harley, but they never made it down the aisle. He tied the knot with nurse Annie Dutton in 1995, but the union was invalidated when Reva returned from the dead. Josh and Annie made it legal in 1996, but divorced in 1997 to a combination of her trickery and his ongoing love for Reva. When his 1999 marriage to Reva failed, Josh fell for Olivia; they wed in 2001, only to divorce that same year. After another stab at matrimony with Reva (2002-2007). Josh slipped a ring on her sister Cassie’s finger in 2007, but they called it quits the following year.”

Dreama Walker (Janie Walker, she appeared in 2 episodes that IMDB puts in 2007) will be on a mid-season CBS replacement On Doubt. Read more in the September 26, 2016 episode of Soap Opera Digest.

Neighbors by Kellie

October 18, 2016

To make it easier to direct people to this story I wanted to put all the chapter links in a single post, in other words do a link roundup. This story is in the nonmob fanfic category.

“Neighbors” – Millionaire playboy Danny Santos suddenly finds himself re-ordering his life after meeting medical student Michelle Bauer when she moves into his apartment building teaches him to believe in love at first sight. SanCorp is a legitimate multinational and in a family crisis Danny must take its presidency, although he still fights with Carmen over the direction of the business. Alan Spaulding’s take over plan and Michelle’s cousin Stacy Chamberlain’s (even more obsessive in “love” than her mother Nola could be) obsession over Danny could kill the romance before it even starts. This is a rare example of Rick being pro-Danny from the beginning, he wants SanCorp to fund a new clinic and thinks Michelle needs a romance.😉
