Odds and Ends 51

April 9, 2018

While looking for Guiding Light information, I sometimes find things that I think are of interest relating to other soaps. This collection of Odds and Ends related to various soaps that someone may want to know some time. Look for another odds and ends post soon.

A round up of what soap actors feel is their biggest misconception read about it in the November 6, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Check out a round up of how soap actors memorized lines in the July 25, 2016 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

7recently responded to a question about whether The Bold and the Beautiful still had a fan club when their website says they don’t. “Sadly they don’t technically, but they do still hold fan events, and keep fans up to date to other B&B related things via the fan director Cathy Tomas. Email CathyT@bbmail.tv to get on her email list.”

There is a profile about Scott Bryce (Craig Montgomery #1, both chronologically & in greatness, during falling in love with Sierra, etc.) in the July 25, 2016 issue of Soap Opera Digest. It includes a shout out to his father Ed Bryce who starred as Bill Bauer on Guiding Light. There is an old photo of both Bryces in with the story. Bryce says he is “still friends with so many. I’m in touch with Brian Bloom [Dusty Donovan #1] and Tamara Tunie [Jessica McKecknie]. I consider Tamara a sister. I just had dinner with Finn Carter [Sierra Walsh Montogmery #1 who with Bryce was the Craig-Sierra supercouple] when I was out in Los Angeles. What I think about when I think about those days is not so much the scripts or the scenes or the work as much as the family. We had a real family.” He also says he got to be on The Facts of Life (his character married Jo in the send off) because the stars were all As the World Turns fans and watched on their lunch break.

On General Hospital Drew Cheetwood and Derk Cheetwood (Milo and Max respectively, both Sonny’s goons) worked with their cousin Tyler Christopher (Nicolas Cassadine). The relationship gets a shout out in the January 22, 2018 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott on The Young and the Restless) talks about her friendship with her onscreen mom Dina Abbott played by Marla Adams in the February 5, 2018 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

The October 1972 issue of Daytime TV is announcing Gary Sandy of WKRP in Cincinnati had just been written off Somerset on July 1, 1972. His character was Randy Buchanan and he’d played him for 1 1/2 years. He’d made his soap debut on As the World Turns where he played Hank Barton.

According to the March 5, 2018 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth, when Ian Buchanan as James Warwick on The Bold and the Beautiful was chained to the wall by Shelia, they really chained him to the wall. One time on a break he was stuck because they couldn’t find the keys.

Kristoff St. John (the legendary Neil Winters on The Young and the Restless) has been having personal issues since his son’s suicide. It recently got bad enough he was gone from the show and there were many online rumors. Read his statement in the December 4, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Victoria Rowell (the sorely missed Drucilla Winters on The Young and the Restless) is the subject of a feature catching you up on her latest activities in the March 5, 2018 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth.

The Days of Our Lives Halloween episode 2017 had fantasies based on people coming back from the dead. Read about it in details and see photos in the November 6, 2017 issue in the Soap Opera Digest.

Prince Harry of Great Britain just got engaged with Meghan Markle who appeared on General Hospital as Jill and whose parents met on the show. Read more about it in the December 18, 2018 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Check out a timeline with photos of Lulu Spencer-Falconeri in the November 6, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

John Enos, who rocked on The Young and the Restless as Bobby, Brittany’s eventual husband and the brother of the first person Nikki Newman accidentally killed, had a short run on Days of Our Lives as an Elvis Presley impersonator who was living with Susan Banks. Read more about it in the November 6, 2017 issue Soap Opera Digest.

Nicole Avast and Zende Forrester Dominguez’s wedding gets an article and a photo in the February 20, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Jennifer Landon (Gwen Munson on As the World Turns) is starring in Run for Your Life a pilot for a thriller passed on the Dia de Los Muertos. Read more about it in the December 18, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Maura West (Carly Tenney Snyder on As the World Turns) talks about her General Hospital on-screen relationship with her on screen daughter Kiki Jerome played by Hayley Erin. Read about it in the December 4, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Check out a collection of very cool Halloween costumes through the years across soaps in the November 6, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Catch photos of the major points of Wyatt Spencer’s life on The Bold and the Beautiful in the January 8, 2018 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth.

Nathan West and Maxie Jones wedding was described in the February 20, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

In the October 1972 issue of Daytime TV they describe the onscreen wedding of Ann Tyler Davis and Paul Martin. They got married June 22, 1972 on All My Children.

Check a Take 5 interview with Kimberlin Brown (Shelia Carter on The Bold and the Beautiful) in the December 18, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest. She also did a joint interview with Rena Sofer (Quinn Forrester on the same show) in the November 6, 2017 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Former baseball MVP Steve Garway appeared on The Bold and Beautiful as Sally’s blind date in 1998 according to the January 8, 2018 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth.

The November 1971 issue of Daytime TV points out that Martin Sheen used to play Jack Davis on As the World Turns in 1957.

James Patrick Stuart and Michael E. Knight tell the story of how they went to the White House in 1990 where President George Bush, his wife Barbara, and many members of the staff were All My Children fans. Read more about it and their bromance in the July 25, 2016 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Explore the history of Ned Quartermaine on General Hospital with photos in the February 5, 2018 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Networks Promoting Soaps 1972

February 21, 2018

Networks not supporting soaps is a long story to soap fans. We know there was a long period where soaps funded the primetime shows with very little effort to protect or promote them. Here’s an interesting account from the October 1972 issue of Daytime TV.  This is part of a roundup article called “The Latest News” by Paul Denis.

The Latest News

For years and years, the three TV networks [the three major for profit broadcast networks, CBS, ABC, NBC- ed.] have put virtually all their promotion efforts into nighttime shows, leaving the daytime serials to almost shift for themselves. But attitudes are changing. CBS, for instance, is trying to make up for past errors. It brought some 60 newspaper TV editors to New York and wined and dined them and stuffed them with demonstrations on its eight daytime serials. CBS vice president Fred Silverman even made a speech urging daytime dramas to have their own Emmy Awards which would be “Passed out in a prime-time evening telecast, just like the other Emmy Awards.” Well, better late than never! And we’ll wait and see what CBS does about it.

Couple Codes Update January 2018

January 18, 2018

Here’s my latest update on creating a list of couple code aka smoosh names aka the names people create for couples by combing their names. For example Manny is Michelle Bauer Santos and Danny Santos and Marony is Marah Lewis and Tony Santos. I’ve posted the list from other soaps before, but I’ve been trying to post quarterly updates to help get suggestions who I’ve missed. I’ve added more since last time, but please check for your favorites (or even the not so favorite couples you can remember). I’m a long way from having all of them for all soaps here. I think I have finally collected most of the Guiding Light couple codes, but I’m adding those below and am now branching out to collect other soaps. The shows and the names are listed in alphabetical order. All couples are eligible to be included if they are on a daytime soap opera and have a commonly used nickname or code.  I threw a few primetime ones on at the bottom too, just for fun. This list is by no means complete at this point, but I found with my work with the Guiding Light list that people tend to respond more after they see what you have.

I also have reserved a spot on the the list for anyone with a nickname that might be confused with a couple code. For example, on the Guiding Light list I’ve included Cleva for Clone Reva. So here are the couples whose name I’ve remember or had suggested to me so far. If you spot I’m missing one from any daytime soap, please let me know on Facebook, Twitter, in the comments below or by e-mailing me at Robansuefarm@hotmail.com

A Tale of Two Jasons

December 4, 2017

I don’t often write about current soaps, but I really wanted to comment on the two Jason storyline on General Hospital.

Shedding a Remembered Tear for Craig and Sierra Montgomery

First off, I want to say that I 100% feel for the fans who’ve been waiting to get Steven Burton back. I KNOW that feeling. Craig Montgomery was really important to me back in the day. Craig (the amazing Scott Bryce) and Sierra (the phenomenal Finn Carter) were a wonderful supercouple who never really got a fair chance because after the initial short run only an alternating one of the pair were on the show at any one time for years. Sadly the story had to twist to try and write around this availability issue. Eventually they gave up. Craig and then eventually Sierra were recast. None of the rest of the “Craigs” ever captured the same heart of the Craigness. After Bryce left in 1994, Craig stayed off canvas for awhile until they brought him back in the person of Hunt Block. Block is a great actor, but they brought him on to play a variation on his Guiding Light character Ben Warren and that’s what he did. I always hoped someday that we’d get Craig back and then 13 years later, in a total miracle, in April 2007 HE CAME BACK! It was such a brilliant piece of luck. Craig was suddenly CRAIG again. Then not even a year late in February 2008 he was fired by one of the stupidest TPTB ever. So I’ve known this miraculous return. I truly wish the best for you that have been waiting for Steve Burton to come back and I sincerely hope it’s going to be what you wish and end better than mine did.

Not In MY Story

My opinion is also shaped by the fact that General Hospital isn’t one of my stories. Although you hear that “my stories” is a synonymn for soap operas, but that isn’t exactly right. A soap that is one of your stories has a special place in your heart. You feel like you are part of the community. For example, in some ways I live in Springfield and Oakdale. I don’t live in Port Charles, I just visit. That’s not any kind of comment on its quality. I’m sure there are people who DO live there, but it effects my viewpoint.

Danny Horn of the hilarious Dark Shadows Everyday blog holds that the audience doesn’t care about the characters, they just want the most interesting thing to happen. I used to totally disagee with him. I’ve never had the opportunity, but I honestly think I’d be happy watching Manny have family dinners, talk with friends at Company, have business deals that go well, and make love lots and lots and lots of times.

However, when it comes to soaps that I just watch that aren’t my stories, Danny is 100% correct. I do want interesting things to happen even if they are terrible things for the characters. Even though my current favorite soap couple is Killon and there are other characters on the soap I like, what I really want is the show to be interesting.

Will General Hospital Be Interesting?

Now with that as our goal, to do the most interesting thing, what should obviously happen is that Billy Miller’s Jason should be the real Jason. That way you’d have all these people who were certain Steve Burton’s Jason was Jason have gone out on a limb. They’d have damaged their relationship with real Jason and leave both Jasons wondering just where does their identity come from. Even though they said this week that Steve Burton was the real Jason, for the good of the show he shouldn’t be. There is just so much more story to work with and if the writing was sharp what they say now wouldn’t be the final answer.

It would also be the smart move because so much of the talk has been a copy of the Two Todds storyline on One Life to Live, to have this resolution be the opposite of that would be much more interesting.

But I doubt that’s what is going to happen. They’ll already passed up a brilliant opportunity. When Jason “remembered everything” the next day should have been that he remembered being Jason Quartermaine or Jason Quartermaine AND Jason Morgan. They didn’t take advantage of that so it’s unlikely they’ll take advantage of this one. Steve Burton will be the real Jason Morgan and that will be that.

Second Story

Which means that the Steve Burton fans will get what they want in the short term. However, whether Steve Burton was really Jason or not is not really the thing for his fans to be worried about. It’s relatively easy for writers to come up with a spectacular return for someone fans love. My personal favorite being Shannon McKendrick returning from the dead on As the World Turns which even though word had leaked she was coming back so everyone knew they wrote it in such a way that everyone expected Duncan to find something terrible had happened to his current wife Jessica and when they opened the door and when it was Shannon instead I think it shocked everyone. Then there was that first story where they had to deal with the fault out. Would Duncan and Shannon get back together or would he choose to stay with Jessica? After that, they never really found that second story and they were written out soon after. The terrible shock of Phillip Chancellor III really being alive on The Young and the Restless followed up with him going back to Australia. Not that it can’t work, but the key is sticking the landing, the second story. So what Burton fans should really be worried about is if they can find a second story for him. Given what I’ve seen so far, I don’t have a lot of hope, but I genuinely wish his fans well.

The Trade Towers Fell September 11 2001

October 3, 2017

Check out my latest episode guide post. I wrote this before Sunday’s attack, but I think this is still fitting, maybe more so.

What Was the September 11, 2001 Attack

This year I didn’t do a September 11th post because I knew I was almost here in the episode guide. Although it has been 16 years, so no one under 20 remembers it live now, the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the failed attempt on the Capitol building (which passengers realized what was going to happen and attacked the terrorists leading to the crashing of the plane into a field in Pennsylvania instead) was a big deal. Previous terrorist attacks on America in the late 20th century had all come from homegrown terrorists protesting situations in America such as the Oklahoma City bombing (blew up a courthouse including a daycare) or various smaller attacks with low death tolls such as the Atlanta Olympic Games bombing.

The September 11, 2001 attacks were a foreign organization’s deliberate act of war on the United States with a much bigger body count and only a handful of stupid decisions on the terrorists part kept it from being a lot worse. It ranks up there with Pearl Harbor, the Kennedy Assassination, the space shuttle Challenger blowing up on take-off as an event so big where you were when it happened is burned into your memory and even passed down. I wasn’t alive for the first two, but I can tell you when and where several family members heard the news from their stories. This wasn’t a terrible event that would then pass into gray memory, this was an actual attack and we hadn’t had an honest full scale attack on American mainland since the Indian Wars of the 1870s more than a century before. (Pearl Harbor was an American territory at the time of the attack, but well into the Pacific a good distance from the mainland. There were a few brief skirmishes like with Nazi subs landing people on our shores during World War II, but they were very small, scattered and easily dealt with.) It was also a change for hijackings. All previous plane hijackings had been aimed at either ransom or flying the hijackers somewhere they wanted to go or both. Although there was some danger people were told to remain calm if this happened because almost everyone got out alive through the ransom. This was an attack on a soft target (not military) by an organization that didn’t have an easily defined ground to launch a large scale counter-attack against. (Iraq and Afghanistan had enough connections with the terrorist groups that they were invaded by American troops in an effort to destroy the movement there to prevent future attacks.)

Last Bit of Normalcy

It was ironic that this moment of Manny thinking everything was fine, that they were passing into normal life, was on the last day before the rules of normal changed for everyone. Even though people seem to be settled into more or less normalcy again that normal now includes a real chance of being involved yourself or someone you know or know of in a terrorist attack while going about your daily lives. Although the attacks have been kept to a minimum in the United States, Europe is now attacked with frightening regularity. So enjoy this last bit of peace from the last post because for both us and Manny an attack is even now underway on that day of September 10, 2001, we just don’t know it yet.

What Do We Do

As I explained above this was an unprecedented event. Even after the strike of the first tower, people assumed it was an accident. There had been a couple of small plane crashes into buildings by accidents in the year before so the idea it was a terrorist attack didn’t enter people’s minds until the second plane hit. Such an attack had been foreseen by the government as a possibility during World War II, but this came out of nowhere and hadn’t even been thought of as even a possibility by most people. In addition while the structure of the Pentagon was built for the unlikely possibility of attack (in fact the section the plane hit had just been retrofitted to make it more secure) the World Trade Center was the original of a widely copied design of skyscraper that left the building especially vulnerable to this kind of attack. Everything hangs off a central core which once breached and melted by the extreme heat of the resulting high temperature fires and compromised walls left the tower no support and no way out with all stairs and elevators being located in this central tower. This is why people in the top of the towers didn’t even have a chance to escape. People on lower levels only had until the collapse began to get down the stairs because once the collapse started each floor pancaked on the one beneath it in turn crushing beyond recognition everything below it.

Everyone gathered around their TV sets for information, misinformation, and a sense of being gathered with everyone else. The terrorists definitely succeeded in confusing everyone. No one knew exactly what to do. There was no model to go from. Schools across the country didn’t know if they should dismiss or maintain the routine for the students. Did you play sporting events or not? Can you really work when you were obsessed with the news? The networks all went into constant news and commentary broadcasting. All soaps were all temporarily pulled along with other entertainment broadcasting, daytime and primetime. It must have been even worse for the New York based soap people because the anchors who were from New York kept pointing at the skyline. Most of the rest of the country saw an unbroken row of skyscrapers, but New Yorkers saw a terrible hole.

September 11th fell early on a Tuesday morning so Monday episodes had gone out, but not the rest of the week. As life settled into the new normal things slowly began to resume. All three network announced their soaps would replay the previous Monday’s episodes on the Monday following 9/11 which was September 17th and why the previous episode post had two dates, it played twice as the current episode. Then the soaps would play out the rest of the week with the episodes that were supposed to air the week before. I think that might be the only time that ever happened.

After Effects to Soaps and Guiding Light

After they resumed all soaps were effected in the short term. Violence was toned down. Storylines suddenly deemed too violent were scrapped. On Guiding Light when Josh time traveled following Reva through a painting to World War II Paris he had to hold up the Nazi who looked just like Alan with a baguette instead of a gun. Other stories already shot on various soaps on all the networks were re-edited to be toned down or disclaimers were added.

In the long term soaps were mostly unaffected. Few main characters on any of the soaps went to war, violence gradually returned to pre-9/11 levels.  (Exceptions were Phillip on Days of Our Lives who lost a leg although his resulting prosthetic leg has been totally forgotten and Brot on All My Children who was cast with an amateur actor and real life severely injured vet.) The following July’s Bauer BBQ included a special wish in honor of the fallen, but by then most of the soaps had forgotten. The new realism of terrorism which could have easily been written into stories weren’t. So in the long term I don’t think the did really effect soaps, except that some people sought them out again as comfort food in such an unstable world.

If you’re old enough, what do you remember?

Restaurants Only on Soaps

September 13, 2017

As part of my on-going creation of a directory for all things soap, I’m adding a list of restaurants. Consider this a mid-point draft that I’ll hope to update. Check out my list and thanks to those who contributed.

Guiding Light

Company was the casual family dining next door to the Reardon Boarding House. It went through several name variations over the year, but it was always popular, especially with hospital staff since it was directly across from Cedars Hospital.

5th Street Diner aka Cooper Diner aka Wheels and Meals Diner was on 5th Street, a mom and pop family place for diner food.

Lakeland Country Club was the fashionable place for big events. You could do casual fine dining in the restaurant, but normally it was a place for special events.

Len’s Ice Cream Parlor aka Murray’s was briefly a popular spot in town for ice cream which was retconned back to Michelle’s childhood.

Little Havana was a Cuban restaurant favored by the Santos family. It was never shown onscreen.

Millennium was a nightclub that also served as a bar close to the new Millennium.

Towers was a fine dinning restaurant located on the top floor of Blakewood Towers. It was known for its view on the city. It did both dining in and had a very active to-go business.

Wired For Sound was a disco restaurant in the early 1980s.

Bauer BBQ mentioned UltraMart supermarket and Grohmans (spelling?) Delecatesent.

As the World Turns

Al’s Diner – Al’s Diner, currently owned by Henry Coleman, has been a major part of the series for years, with many characters having either worked there when they were young or when they were down on their luck. The menu has changed a lot (Carly brought in a line of more healthy foods, Janet brought in some Italian influence, Vienna brought in Scandinavian).

Mona Lisa’s aka Diana’s – Diana McColl was Whit McColl’s daughter, Lisa Miller et al’s step-daughter. During Diana’s unsuccessful time in Oakdale she started a restaurant on a yatcht. It was known as Diana’s. When Diana left town, step-mother Lisa bought the place and renamed it after herself – complete with a painting of herself as Mona Lisa in the foyer.

All My Children

The Serving Spoon was kind of like a gourmet goodie shop. Characters would always go there to pick up food for their picnics.

Thanks to Sadie Soaper for helping with this section.

The Bold and the Beautiful

A fancy restaurant with an outdoor seating area, patronized by the Forresters, is Il Giardino.

Café Russe is another five star restaurant.

Insomnia aka Dayzee’s is a coffee shop. It was run by the Spectra family. Later it reopened as part of Stephanie Forrester’s campaign to help the homeless as they were involved with both the running the cafe and a payment system where you paid what you could. Dayzee, Donna’s biological son’s wife who Stephanie befriended at a homeless shelter, took over after Stephanie’s death and rechristened it Dayzee’s. Maya and Rick later got involved there when she sang there and he was working some volunteer shifts.

Bikini Bar  is an outdoor bar with a pool near the beach. Most people wear swimsuits there.

*Thanks to  and  for help with this section.

Days of Our Lives

Brady Pub is a typical bar with food which is a family business of the Brady family who often end up working there or living above it.

On Days of Our Lives Sonny’s club is called Club TBD. It started as a place filler calling the club To Be Determined, but they eventually grew to like it and kept it. Read more about it in the Oct. 14, 2014 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

Chez Rouge was Maggie Horton’s fine dining establishment. When Maggie was assumed dead in one of Days everybody’s dead, but not really storylines, the Salem Stalker, Bonnie Lockhart married Maggie’s husband Mickey Horton and took over the restaurant changing it to a country western bar named Alice’s.

Blondie’s – no addition information.

Thanks to Keisha Fishback, Lori Besserer for helping with this section.

General Hospital

Floating Rib aka Jake’s – a bar formerly owned by Luke Spencer.

Gene’s Place  is a bar/restaurant combo that first aired in 2016.

The Haunted Star, originally a Cassadine yacht, is now a nightclub run by Lulu Spencer-Falconeri.

Kelley’s – a bar

Metro Court Restaurant located in the Metro Court hotel and is owned by Carly and Olivia Falconeri. It’s a posh place where they have both business meals and celebrate special occasions. It has an active bar.

Perks is a coffee shop chain.

Ruby’s – no additional information

Triple L – where we first met Lucy.

Thanks to , Lori Besserer and Traci Fenton for helping with this section.

One Life to Live

Bonjour Cafe was in Paris, Texas when Vicki Lord ended up and met future husband Charlie. When the local cafe burnt down Charlie built a replica in Lanview.

Thanks to Priscilla Jeneen Hunt for helping with this section.

Ryan’s Hope

Ryan’s Bar – the central location on soap was this bar run by the titular family.

Young and the Restless

Crimson Lights Coffee Shop – came in when Nick was SORASed and has been a major force and setting on the show ever since. First owners weren’t in story, but then Sharon and Nick bought it. They eventually sold it to Kevin who sold it to Dylan. When Dylan went into witness protection and left town, he returned the coffee house to Sharon. After Sharon and Nick’s daughter Cassie died they named the outdoor patio Cassie’s Corner complete with her portrait. This is now only mentioned when current story involves a reference to Cassie and her painting is normally covered up. It is located in a historic district in town that was once under threat from redevelopment. Previous stories have disagreed over the building is owned by the coffee shop or not.

GCAC aka Genoa City Athletic Club – has a restaurant and bar as part of a club that also includes a hotel, event/conference facility, and gym facilities. It has been run by Gina Roma and Lily and Cane Ashby.

Gina’s – was run by Gina Roma (she anglicized from Romalotti) who was Danny Romalotti’s sister. She served as maitre d and was known for her sensible advice and friendly ear. The specialty of the house was lasagna. Gina also sang at the club. Gina’s was a staple of Geona City for many years until Kevin Fisher burnt it down in an attempt to kill Colleen Carlton (Brad and Traci’s daughter) which proved unsuccessful thanks to Colleen’s boyfriend JT Hellstrom heroically pulling her out of the flames. After it burnt down she managed the restaurant of the Geona City Athletic Club but gradually faded out of the show.

Gloworm – Gloria Fisher and her husband Jeffery Bardwell ran this restaurant named in honor of Gloria. It was sort of a middle of the road restaurant definitely above a diner, but not fine dining.

The Saigon Shack – was a Vietnamese restaurant run by Jack Abbott’s lost love Luan who he married and she later died. It was mentioned on screen in 2017.

The Underground is a bar opened by Nick Newman after one of his defections from Newman. Nick’s son Noah and assorted young people worked at the bar which also featured live music including Noah himself and Reed Halstrom. The bar is literally underground and has a cramped feeling. It never has many customers. When Nick was dating Avery Bailey Clark (Phyllis’s sister), he gave her a reserved booth.

Thanks to Gwen White and Brandi Nicole Anderson for helping with this section.

Thanks to Priscilla Jeneen Hunt for several name suggestions for different soaps.

Odds and Ends Musical 3

September 6, 2017

One of the hardest things to track down later is what song was used with a scene. I try and catch references to specific songs and round them up. I’ve previously published Part 1 and Part 2. Some of these are from old issues. For them find old issues here.

Find a roundup about soap actors who are also musicians in the November 3, 2014 issue of Soap Opera Digest.

In July 2014, Rafe Kovich, Jr. (sadly killing off a legacy character from Port Charles and destroying the character who had been charismatic and likable) died. A song played over the montage.
