Christmas 1994 Update 2014

Bauer House Xmas 1994  1994 has a lot going on in Springfield at Christmas time. Sadly I only have one episode right now, but perhaps we can expand it next year. Best is that we get to see the Spaulding Mansion decorated for Christmas which is always a treat, worst is the Holly-Roger breakup. The most lasting thing going on is that Holly has thrown Roger out because she thinks he’s cheating on her courtesy of an Alexandra plot (Roger was being true and honest for the only time in his life). Elsewhere Alan is allowing Alex to think he’s dying as part of the unending battle for control of Spaulding. Ed and Eve are currently living together, so it’s going to be one of THOSE episodes. Mainly where Maureen and him were part of the community and did things together as a family, basically Ed wants Eve alone so they can fool around and can’t talk (I’m guessing part of him is as annoyed by her as I am). That means even though people ALWAYS stop by the Bauers on Christmas, they are shocked, SHOCKED that people turned up and don’t have food ready so she has to break out the food from the gift basket they were brought.

Tangie Hill (the character with the most accomplished actress playing her who ultimately crashed and burned) is around and none of her stories actually worked. She was brought on as a possible replacement for Reva after she drove off the bridge. They also tried to tie her to Roger Thorpe by making her his ward, but it really didn’t work. Then she had a bag of money that belonged to criminals. They then had her rescue Little Billy Lewis, but still nothing clicked. This is basically their last attempt. She’d kind of started something with Alan which she rescue Alan-Michael from a boat on a beach. Now they are trying to stir up an Alan-Michael-Tangie-Alan triangle, but most of what it accomplished was hard feelings on both sides. David Grant, the one that previously had the cool relationship with Bridget and would in the future pair with Vicky Spualding and going after Michelle when she was accused of Ben Warren’s murder, is in the middle of a green card marriage. They are starting to have real feelings for each other and his mother HATES it and doesn’t know it’s fake.

Christmas at the Spaulding Mansion. Alex and Alan play power games at Christmas. A-M and Tangie Hill arrive (Alan-Tangie-A-M had a lukewarm triangle). Nick arrives without Mindy. Jenna’s comedy relief maids are still in residence, although the Spauldings have the mansion back, Ginger and Donna. (Read more here.) It’s Christmas at the Bauer House in a happy chaos. Rick calls home from Chicago. He won’t make it home this year. Rick and Annie were married in Chicago in a destructive relationship. They divorced and when Annie wanted to leave town, he recommended her to Cedars. Holly has left Roger because of Alex’s set up. Ed is with Eve, so you know it won’t be a good year. 😦

Dinah called to wish Ross a Merry Christmas. Blake is worried about Holly’s strange behavior. Holly and Ed have a talk and she confesses to kicking Roger out. Fletcher and Ben arrive at the Bauers.

Charles and Vivian Grant are also spending time at the Bauers. David has called his mother a racist because of her reaction to his recent marriage (it’s a cover for the INS, but I don’t think Vivian knows that.) For once Vivian seems to have heard something David said, but Charles insists it isn’t true. Back at the Spauldings for some unknown reason Lillian and Alex appear to be playing a home version of air hockey on a wobbly table while Alan looks on. A-M takes this opportunity to talk to Tangie alone. A-M gives Tangie a poem and Tangie gives him a carving made from a piece of wood of the abandoned boat where she first met him.

Not expecting guests, Eve and Ed didn’t have any food ready. Tangie and A-M rode to the rescue with food. Nick is resigning from Spaulding Enterprises to keep peace between his mother and Mindy. Alan and Alex exchange gifts. Alexandra got Alan a watch fob with his photo on one side and her photo on the other to use with Brandon’s watch, that for some reason she wanted. Alan gave her the box (already had it wrapped before her little I was cheated speech about it). The staff begins their surprise, Christmas Caroling.

Carolers have also showed up at the Lewis family gathering. The INS stopped by to inspect David’s green card marriage. Roger shows up at the Bauers and sadly humiliates himself trying desperately to get Holly to believe him (and again he IS completely innocent this time).

There should be at least one more episode where Roger comes in and pleads his case to Holly, but that’s all I’ve found on the channel. If I find more I’ll do an update.
