Springfield Thanksgiving 2009 by Robansuefarm Background

If you watched Guiding Light during its final year (and you really, really should have after Philip’s return it was on a constant up tick) you knew exactly where the story was headed.

After all, they had

  • stressed again and again Thanksgiving as a holiday Philip wouldn’t live to see
  • invented an entire new Springfield tradition of having everyone come to Bizzie’s house for Thanksgiving along the lines of the Bauer BBQ
  • dwelled on how vital it was to get the Bizzie house finished before Thanksgiving
  • had characters with no connection to Bizzie refer and comment regularly on Thanksgiving.

So obviously, thematically they had to be planning to have Thanksgiving 2009 be the final episode when everyone came together and…..wait, what now? That’s not what happened at all.  I don’t know if that truly was the plan and they changed it or what, but they didn’t even say anything about the Thanksgiving 2009 they jumped from September 2009 to September 2010.

So one of my early fanfic efforts was an attempt to fill that hole. However, I only seem to remember to work on it a couple of times a year so I still haven’t finished it, but going back this year and reading the first chapter I did it was dang good so I decided to go ahead and share it.

I had some thoughts on how to do it and I think it’s probably the closest in style to the episodes during the last year . It’s going to be broken into timeblocks and skip back and forth at different locations around town, but so far I’ve just gotten two done.

I hope you enjoy it.
