Hope Needs a Middle Name

Manny Move BackHope is Manny’s daughter. A sort of miracle daughter she’s the only good thing to come out of the deep, dark, best forgotten amnesia year. When she was born, in a way too complicated story and one last terrible blast at Manny before they turned around and got a little respect right before they left, Edmund Winslow had stolen her making everyone think Michelle’s baby had died. It really was a horrible story for everyone involved. Anyway to sum up it was Edmund’s attempt to keep a permanent hold on Cassie, so he told Cassie the baby was the product of Dinah being a surrogate for Cassie and Edmund’s embryo.  That really is a streamlined version of the story, but the upshot is that when Manny found out she was really theirs she was already named Hope.

Cassie named her Hope for much the same reason that Brooke Logan Forrester called her daughter Hope on The Bold and the Beautiful, to symbolize the hope for the better future. Manny decided to keep her name partly to acknowledge Cassie’s role in taking care of her at first. They also kept it because Hope was a family name. Michelle’s cousin was Hope (of Hope and Alan fame).

So Hope has a first name and considering the amount of thought went into Robbie’s name connecting the families I think Hope should have a middle name that also has a family connection. We’ve used Maureen for Danielle’s middle name, but there are other people who should be honored. I think my first choice would be Meta since Michelle and Danny both had such a strong relationship with her. Other connection choices might be Jenna (who Michelle was very close to growing up) and Pilar (Danny’s sister). Do you have any other thoughts for what we should christen Hope?

UPDATED May 31 2016: I say above we used Maureen for Danielle’s middle name, but I tried to find where I had actually said that. Turns out I don’t know why I thought I’d said that so both Hope AND Danielle’s middle names are up for grabs because neither has been established yet.

what about Bridget? she was a Reardon and wasn’t Michelle’s mom too? and Bridget and Michelle were close for awhile..and also it’d honor Rick too somewhat 🙂

My pick would be Meta. I do wish there were more options on Danny’s side but he really didn’t end up with too many relatives that didn’t stink in the end all that was left was Pilar and Ray.

FYI Andrea, I just approved your comment. You hadn’t commented, at least under that exact name, before so you weren’t preapproved and I had to manually OK it. That’s why it didn’t show up right away. You’re OK now though, as long as you use this name. I just OKed the last one though since they all said about the same thing. 🙂

Sorry about that! I was at my friend Andrea’s house using her laptop and forgot to use my email instead of hers. It took me awhile to figure out why my comment kept disappearing.

That’s OK. You’ll show up now even if you use hers. 🙂

My pick is Meta since Danny and Michelle were so close to her. I do wish there were more options on Danny’s side for names but Pilar and Ray are really the only Santos relatives he had left that didn’t stink. Too bad they changed Danny’s grandmother or else Maria would be a great choice given how sweet her and Danny’s relationship and how she pegged Danny and Michelle’s feelings early on.
