Conner and Evan Walsh were the grandchildren of James E. Walsh, Lucinda’s second husband and founder of the company. Despite the fact that James’s management had driven the company practically into bankruptcy and it was Lucinda’s works and ideas that had turned it into a powerhouse, the Walsh grandchildren led what they felt was a righteous takeover. Lucinda started a new company, Worldwide that quickly left Walsh Enterprises in the shade.

In the Sept. 20, 2011 issue of Soap Opera Weekly, The Young and the Restless’ Doug Davidson clarified an old plot point on p. 26. “Even though it happened way back in 1979, long-time Y&R fans still debate who gave that STD to whom when Paul and Nikki were sleeping together as promiscuous teens. Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) makes the call. ‘Nikki gave it to Paul,’ he avows. ‘Melody Thomas Scott wasn’t the first Nikki, so Mel wasn’t there when that happened. I think that’s where it kind of gets screwed up. Melody and I first worked together in the summer of 1979. Before that, I worked with Erica Hope, who was the original Nikki Reed.’” That is at the very beginning of my soap memories and I do remember that Nikki gave Paul something catching although I had no idea what a STD was at the time.

The September 13, 2011 issue of Soap Opera Digest quoted a great statement from Sean to mobster Sonny on General Hospital. One that deserves to be quoted. “That’s the difference between you and me. I’m willing to die for Josslyn (a little girl whose custody is currently at issue). You’re just willing to kill for her.”
The March 12, 2012 issue of CBS Soaps in Depth did a story on actress and picture book author Julianne Moore (Frannie Hughes on As the World Turns) latest movie Game Change where she portrayed Sarah Palin. Moore was asked why she returned to ATWT as part of the final year celebration. She said it was because “Oh, I love them!”
