New Years Day 1991

One of the biggest Guiding Light storylines ever is well underway on New Year’s Day 1991. Roger Thorpe had married Alexandra Spaulding partly to get Spaulding, but mostly because he genuinely cared for Alexandra, but marriage to Alex made Roger feel emasculated and so he found a little sympathy, comfort, and hero worship in the arms of Mindy Lewis (in one of her worst moves ever, it cost her so much). While Alex was terribly suspicious that Roger would cheat on her, somehow never got suspicious of him and Mindy for a long time and ironically was extra nice to Mindy for no particular reason along this time. That’s why Roger about swallows his tongue when Alex starts talking about Mindy. The best part of course is after Alex finds out and before Roger and Mindy release she knows. This is still the anticipatory set. Alan-Michael informs Alex that he doesn’t want to come to Alex’s New Year’s dinner and is even considering moving out of the mansion to avoid Blake and Alex isn’t happy. At the Country Club we got a quick peek at Sam Marler, Phillip’s full biological sister who was paralyzed jumping out of the car right before Reva drove off the bridge. She’s in a stand up wheelchair. The title is New Year’s Day 1990, but it seems to be incorrect on the label from the stories this should be New Year’s Day 1991. I wish I had more of it.
